COMMUNITY OUTREACH

MINISTRY

Our Community Outreach Ministry started because we believe that God has given us the responsibility to take care of the people around us. We want to be a church where our neighbors can find Jesus and friendship!

Community Outreach at FH looks like a lot of things, but the main goal is this: connect our community with resources that prove God's provision and love for them.

To partner with God in what He is doing in our neighborhood, watch the video below to learn the heart behind this ministry and how to pray for its direction for the future.

SERVING OPPORTUNITIES

Caring for our community wouldn't be possible without all of our unique gifts, time, and resources being organized together to bless our neighbors. Below, you will find different areas in which you can volunteer.

  • open door care center

We believe that God has given us the responsibility to take care of the people around us by freely sharing our resources with our community. Because of this, we have started a new ministry called the Open Door Care Center - a place where our neighbors can be connected with resources and immediate care.

The ODCC is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-12. During that time, volunteers are available to help fill out applications for other local assistance programs, and help administer basic needs such as food, clothing, housewares, and furniture immediately.

To volunteer, reach out to Becky Weems at the contact information below!

  • food pantry delivery

Some of our neighbors need assistance with food, and we need volunteers to help with delivery! Pick-up happens on Wednesday at Nacogdoches Hope Food Pantry -- and takes about 30 minutes total for pick-up and delivery to one home.

TIME COMMITMENT: 30 minutes-1 hour per week on Wednesdays

  • FH HELPS: neighborhood text group

Each week, there are various needs that our neighbors face. These range from physical resources that can be delivered to tasks and errands, like mowing lawns. We will be compiling these needs into an online sign-up form and sending them out real-time via texting service.

If you are willing to receive texts throughout the week with potential needs, fill out the form below!

(There is also an email option - sign up under the same link!)

Woven is a family advocacy ministry with the mission of living out the Gospel by supporting vulnerable families and children.

This is done through organizing Care Communities, groups of 4-8 volunteers with different gifts and resources. Different volunteer responsibilities will be listed on the form below!

community walks

Every quarter, we walk our neighborhood to check-in on our neighbors, spend time with them, and pray together. We want to become a church that extends a culture of welcome, and we believe that starts with intentionally seeking out & caring for our neighbors.

Our next walk is scheduled for Sunday, January 12th, 2025. We will stay after the service, have lunch provided, and then head out into the neighborhood! This walk should last from noon to 2:30 p.m. -- all ages are welcome. We hope you'll join us!
