  • Kendall McDonald

    Lead PASTOR

    Kendall grew up in Flower Mound, Texas. He received a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Texas Tech University. He spent several years working with youth and college students. In 2006, he married the love of his life, Lindsey McDonald. Lindsey has her Master's degree in Linguistics from Texas Tech University and has a heart for the nations.

  • Blake Russell

    Worship Pastor

    Blake is a native to Nacogdoches. He met his wife Ashley while in college at SFASU. Very early in their relationship, they felt a call to ministry. Both have served in various capacities within the church including worship leader, children's/university intern, production, and ministry associate. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Interpersonal Communications and a minor in Political Science. From 2006-2012 Blake served as worship leader for Great Escape, a university wide worship service held for SFA students. He also served as Contemporary Worship Leader at FBC Nacogdoches, and Jersey Village Baptist Church in Northwest Houston.


    Blake has been on staff at Fredonia Hill since December 2012.

  • Matt Murray

    FAMILY Pastor

    Matt was born and raised in Florida but his family moved to Texas in 2004. He began serving as a Student Pastor in full-time ministry in January of 2007. Matt met his wife, Megan, while serving in Nacogdoches and they were married in June of 2010. Matt studied Youth Ministry at Liberty University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Religion. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys hunting, fishing, playing music, and community.

  • Becky Weems

    Preschool director

    Becky has been a member of Fredonia Hill since her childhood and has served in many ministry roles throughout the years. She is married to Zac Weems and together they have four children: Lexi, Max, Carli, and Mia. The Weems family is called to serve families in Nacogdoches but also the people of Haiti through their non-profit One Foot Raised.


    Becky has been serving at Fredonia Hill since 1993.

  • megan drake

    children's ministry director

    Megan was raised in Huntsville, TX. She married her husband, Jeremy, in 2010 then graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's in Community Health. They have four children, Averly, Ryder, Barrett, and Carson. Jeremy and Megan have been members of Fredonia Hill since 2015. She has enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom since their first was born in 2012 and recognizes that her first ministry is to her family. Megan enjoys crafting, coffee, reading, and spending time outside with family.

  • Whitney Johnson

    Student Ministry director

    Whitney was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2016 with a degree in Environmental Science. She has served in the Fredonia Hill Student Ministry for the last 3 years. Whitney loves people, dancing, and being outside as much as possible.


    Whitney has been serving at Fredonia Hill since 2019.

  • Meleena James

    University Ministry director

    Meleena was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a degree in Organizational Communication in 2015. Currently she serves in the University ministry.  She spends her time discipling ladies, working with Armor Bearers, and handling all of the logistics within our college ministry. Beforehand, Meleena spent three years, serving as a Armor Bearer and Armor Bearer Resident. She has also worked with our children and youth ministries.  Meleena is married to John James and they have one son, Owen. Meleena enjoys coffee, friends, and airports.


    Meleena has been serving at Fredonia Hill since 2013.

  • John James

    University Ministry director

    John was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a Business degree in 2015. John is married to Meleena James and they have one son, Owen. The James Family spends most of their time ministering to college students.   John enjoys music, coffee, and comic books.

  • Mark Clark

    Teaching Ministry Director

    Born and raised in Nacogdoches, Mark Clark attended SFASU and has been a member of Fredonia Hill for over 30 years and has taught Sunday School for over 25. He has also served as elder, deacon, and finance team member for most of that time. Mark married his wife, Diana, 32 years ago and the two of them have two children, Westley and Whitney. Mark has been a self employed businessman in Nacogdoches for 30 years and for the last 14 years as an insurance agent. He is an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for Bible teaching and Christian education.

  • Ashley Russell

    Women's Ministry Director

    Ashley is from Friendswood, TX and she met her husband Blake while in college at SFASU. Very early in their relationship, they felt a call to ministry. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Education. Ashley has been active in women's ministry at Fredonia Hill since 2012 and recently moved into the director position in 2017.

  • Robert (Bob) Hurst

    Men's ministry director

    Robert (Bob) Hurst is no stranger to ministry, especially men's ministry. Bob has been a member of Fredonia Hill for over 40 years and has volunteers to serve in various ministry roles. Bob was extremely active with the Promise Keeper's men's ministry in their strong years, serving as a national staff volunteer, as well as a local and regional ministry trainer. A self-employed business consultant, Bob and his wife, Laurie, have been married for 42 years, have three grown children, and eight grandchildren. Bob has a passion for seeing men fulfill their Biblical roles of becoming Godly men of influence in their marriages, their homes, and the community.


    Bob has been serving at Fredonia Hill since 1979 and on staff since 2019.

  • Shelia Cupit

    Business Director

    Shelia was born and raised in Nacogdoches and attended Stephen F. Austin University. She served as the Financial Secretary and Pastor's Assistant for 27 years. She and her husband, Jeff, have been married for 33 years. They have three boys, Ryan, Jay Cole, and Cody. Shelia enjoys eating seafood, traveling, and playing with her Labradinger, Annie. She is widely known as "Momma Shelia" to numerous college students.

  • Arely Victorio

    Family Ministry Administrator

    Arely was born in Mexico and came to the US at a young age. She grew up in Nacogdoches, married her husband, Fransisco, and they have two children, Aaron and Alexa. As a family they serve in FH Kids & FH Students. She enjoys serving and encouraging students with their walk with Christ. Arely also enjoys spending time with family, crocheting, and listening to music.

  • Ana munzinger

    connections & Media administrator

    Ana is happy to call Nacogdoches home for both herself and her son, Samuel. She worked at Fredonia Hill for 7 years before moving to DFW for 3 years. After regaining her senses, Ana and Sam moved back to East Texas in the fall of 2018 where they enjoy going to the movies and snuggling babies. 


    Ana has been serving at Fredonia Hill since 2018... and 2008.

Armor Bearers

At Fredonia Hill, we value discipling the next generation of leaders. Our Armor Bearers strategically work with a specific pastor to learn how to serve Fredonia Hill. The Armor Bearer program is a year long commitment that is aimed at teaching young adults how to serve the local church.

    "Hello! My name is Macy Tapp and I am so excited for this opportunity to be a part of the family ministry this year! Before coming to Nacogdoches, I was born and raised in Orange, Texas. I am now a senior at SFA where I am studying Family and Consumer Sciences. I have bee attending Fredonia Hill since Fall 2016. A few of my favorite things include cooking, eating, crafting, road trips, and doing anything outdoors."

    "Hey! My name is Emily Singer! I was born and raised in Jersey Village, Texas and am currently a Junior at SFA studying Psychology, in hopes to go into counseling. The Lord has given me a heart to see people genuinely pursue Him & He has allowed many opportunities to do that, specifically, in Fredonia Hill’s Youth Ministry. I am so excited to see the Lord work in the hearts of our students! Some of my favorite things are laughing, dancing, and watching movies and I’m looking forward to doing these things with the students this year!"

    University Ministry

    "My name is Kyle Vyers, I am starting my third year here at SFA as a Forestry major with a concentration in Fire Management.  I have a passion to work with the outdoors and enjoy typical out door activities like camping, fishing, hiking and kayaking. I am an older brother to 4 younger sisters and most of my family is from Ennis, Texas. Through high school and my first year at SFA I was an avid tuba player in the marching band and even though I don't play anymore I'm still a band nerd at heart."

    "Hi friends! My name is Avery Weaver. I'm from Bryan, Texas and will graduate from SFA this May with a Communication Sciences and Disorders degrees. I am currently the director for the Gather Retreat, a retreat that helps freshman and transfer students get plugged into churches in Nacogdoches. I have a huge heart for college students and cannot wait to help plug them into a loving community, much like the one at Fredonia Hill! Some of my favorite things are traveling, chocolate chip cookies, missions for Haiti, and spending time with family and friends!"
